Why Haikou: The Hainan Free Trade Port
NuCoreBio is registered in Haikou, the capital of Hainan Province. Hainan is China's free trade port: since December 18, 2025 the whole island has operated under a special customs regime designed to make trade and manufacturing there easier and more cost-efficient. For qualifying enterprises and activities, the published policies include:
- Zero-tariff treatment for imported goods. Goods imported into the Hainan Free Trade Port, including raw and auxiliary materials used in production, can enter free of import duties, subject to the policy's conditions and exclusions.
- A 15% corporate income tax rate. Enterprises registered in the port that carry out substantive operations in an encouraged industry can be taxed at 15% instead of the standard 25%. The current policy runs to the end of 2027.
- Duty-free entry to the mainland for value-added products. Goods processed in Hainan from zero-tariff imported inputs can enter mainland China free of import duties when processing adds at least 30% in value within Hainan.
- A 15% cap on personal income tax for qualifying talent, which supports recruiting skilled technical staff to the island.

The Guangzhou site covers about 5,500 m² of land with more than 33,000 m² of buildings. The Haikou site covers about 5,700 m². Across both sites the group has more than 300 team members.
Annual production capacity is about 500 tonnes for gummies, 100 tonnes for pressed tablets and 200 tonnes for powders.

Dr. Li (Ph.D.) is a distinguished Research Fellow and Vice President of Chengdu University of Traditional Chinese Medicine. He completed his doctoral studies in phytochemistry at the Kunming Institute of Botany, Chinese Academy of Sciences, in 2001, followed by postdoctoral research at The Chinese University of Hong Kong and the Max Planck Institute for Chemical Ecology in Germany. From 2007 he served as a Research Fellow at the Kunming Institute of Botany, holding concurrent roles as Deputy Director of the State Key Laboratory of Phytochemistry and Plant Resources in West China and Deputy Director of the National-Local Joint Engineering Laboratory for Natural Drug Activity Screening (Yunnan).
He has led more than 10 major national research projects, including key projects under the National Natural Science Foundation of China. His research has yielded more than 2,500 compounds isolated from over 40 medicinal plant species, and he has pioneered new methodologies for single-cell level phytochemical investigation.
